The Heart Chair
1:4 scale model co-designed with David Cobus for the Kengo Kuma & Higashikawa Kagu Design Competition.
The Heart Chair is a sturdy and playful form able to receive the wear and patina that a child’s school life imparts. The back rest is a blank canvas, an opportunity for students to design and personalize their very first chair. The hope is that the chair will follow each individual throughout their lives and be passed down for generations to come.
The Heart Chair can be disassembled into 6 parts including a seat, back rest, legs attached to rails with sliding dovetails, and 2 wedges. No further hard-ware or fasteners are necessary for assembly.
Models are made of white oak.
